Athletic Therapy is a unique profession blending aspects of Physiotherapy, fitness training, emergency care and sport equipment manager under the umbrella of sport medicine. Athletic Therapists are highly trained professionals specializing in the assessment and treatment of orthopaedic injuries, as well as a host of other related conditions.
Massage therapy is the clinical manual manipulation of tissue for therapeutic purposes. Massage itself is personalized by the patient’s preferences, body regions to be focused on, the depth of pressure, the tempo and even the length of the massage. It can encompass a host of techniques and is used to treat a host of conditions.
Specialties exist within the Massage domain and Sport Massage is one of the most recognized. It is the sport medicine adaptation of massage and, while combining elements of regular massage, it is unique and reflects the specific needs of the active individual. This varies depending on whether they are in training or in competition, or even game-day.

Jonathan is a Registered Massage Therapist and Canadian Certified Athletic Therapist with a further specialty in Sport Massage. At this time, only 4 people across Canada carry all 3 of these designations. Being a recognized educator, author and clinician in this blended domain, he has presented at numerous conferences and is faculty at Centennial College.
Having mastered a myriad of manual intervention strategies, Jonathan Maister has successfully treated a variety of conditions. His manual based practice focuses on musculoskeletal conditions but he has assisted patients with many non soft tissue conditions as well e.g. chronic swelling, sinusitis, trigeminal neuralgia, respiratory conditions and post surgical pain.
